Weddings cost A LOT of money these days. I know for my husband and I, we did not have the funds at the time to go on a full out honeymoon after our big day. Like many couples, we opted for a lower budget honeymoon trip. Instead of going to a beach, we decided to go to a mountain retreat. We vacationed for 3 days in Estes Park, Colorado since my husbands job required him to be in Colorado after our wedding. Not only did we enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and the beautiful mountains of Colorado, but we also enjoyed fabulous restaurants as well. If you’re a bride on a tight budget and want to stay local in Virginia, here are a five great places to go that won’t break the bank:
1. Halfmoon Beach (best kept secret in Virginia)
2. Massanutten Resort (great mountain retreat complete with a golf course and even horseback riding)
3. The Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast (lots of wineries in the area to enjoy)
4. The House Mountain Inn (perfect getaway outside Lexington, Virginia)
5. Virginia Beach (get the taste of the ocean you want without the resort price)
All these places are perfect to enjoy the first week or two of your marriage. There’s tons of places in Virginia to visit! Happy honeymooning!
